Fuel cell cars could be a possibility now...
It seems that a certain mutant algae, being developed at UC Berkeley, could produce tons of hydrogen. This would solve the major problem with fuel cell cars, which run on hydrogen, because the manufacturing of hydrogen was so expensive it pretty much ruled out the idea of an infastructure for fuel cell cars to run on. Now it seems as though hydrogen powered cars could become a viable solution to the world's energy crisis and dependnecy on petroleum based fuels. I for one am pretty excited, not because I'm a tree hugger, but that we won't have to deal with those middle eastern princes that are running a monopoly on oil.Speaking of that, Canada is going to be hitting it big in the oil department because of the oil sands that should have more oil than the entire middle east. If you want to make a killing in the stock market, buy a ton of Suncor (which is the compoany responsible for the lionshare of Canada's oil sand development) shares. I did and it is paying off so far. Check out the 6 month graph below. It can only go up from here. Trust me on this one.

Using the same logic as Disco Stu, from The Simpsons.
"Did you know that disco record sales were up 400% for the year ending 1976? [points to a chart for the years 1973-1976] If these trends continue … aaaaaaay!"
I don't think fuel cells will ever make it. Hydrogen is just too dangerous. Think of how dangerous hydrogen fueling would be. It all looks great on paper, until people start to realize how hard it is to actually build something to spec.
